pinsandpetals Here’s the thing, when you’re a mom – the birthdays that end in 0, 1, and 5’s – they are the big ones. The first birthday, the fifth, then tenth, the list goes on. So what do you do when both of your kiddos are hitting a birthday milestone?! Combine it for one big birthday blowout, of course. I had so much fun helping plan Nevin and Noor’s First and Fifth birthday, creating a theme that fit both of them perfectly: wildflowers and tractors. Check out their birthday party that we planned in their own backyard.

When planning this birthday party, it was essential to celebrate Nevin’s love of tractors and dirt while also honoring Noor’s adoration for flowers and all things girly. With these details in mind, inspiration struck from a children’s book!
The Digger and The Flower is a charming tale about a digger machine that discovers a beautiful wildflower amidst the rubble, transforming its perspective on work and life. This cute story inspired much of the party’s decor. I love finding creative inspiration for events in unexpected places, like a children’s books!
With the dual theme of tractors and wildflowers, I had so much fun creating the details and decorations for this celebration. We blended florals with construction elements seamlessly, placing tractors and diggers alongside delicate flower arrangements. The color palette featured bright pastels and whites to balance the darker tones of the construction decor.
When combining themes, it’s easy for one to overshadow the other, but this party was the perfect mix. Every construction site was paired with flowers, and every floral display featured traffic decor, creating a cohesive and balanced design.
With Nevin turning five and Noor celebrating her first birthday, it was important to include activities for all ages. The party featured a sandpit for digging, a jump house, and a giant water slide for when the day warmed up. While Noor didn’t venture down the water slide, she thoroughly enjoyed watching from her sandpit and playing in the jump house.
Of course, the cakes were a highlight! Nevin’s three-tiered cake featured tractors and tools, while Noor had her own single-tier floral cake. She may not have cared about the cake’s design, but she loved digging in and enjoying every bite!
This party had nearly 100 guests, including parents. To ensure everyone had a great time, we set up a bar for the adults. Custom cocktails adorned with edible tractors and flowers matched the theme beautifully. We also provided cozy lounge furniture for parents to relax and enjoy the festivities.
A big happy birthday to these two wonderful kids! It was a joy to plan this incredible celebration for Nevin, Noor, and their family. This wasn’t just a celebration of their milestones but also a nod to their parents, who now have a one-year-old and a five-year-old. Life doesn’t get much sweeter!
