I am to marshmallow what Paula Deen is to butter. If a dessert or snack calls for 1/4 cup, I add twice that. You can never have too much marshmallow in a delicious gooey dessert!
I LOVE Rice Krispie Treats. Like, finish off a whole batch by myself kind of love. And the way I make them includes an entire bag of marshmallows AND some marshmallow fluff – my secret weapon!
I thought I would give Trix Treats a try because their fruityness sounded like it would be a great counterpart to the sweetness of marshmallow. Holy Moly, that’s an understatement! Surprisingly it’s not overly sweet, either.
1/2 bag of large marshmallows
1 cup marshmallow fluff
1 TBLSPN salted butter (you can use unsalted but I like the taste this adds)
3-4 cups Trix dry cereal
1 13×9″ pan
Butter or PAM for the pan
Butter or spray a 13×9″ pan generously so that your treats are easier to cut & remove. Use a large pot and throw in the butter, marshmallow, and fluff. Turn the heat onto medium and continue stirring everything around as the marshmallows melt. I like to leave some small pieces of the marshmallows not completely melted down. Once you have the consistency you prefer, you remove the pot from the heat. Pour in the cereal 1 cup at a time stirring quickly but carefully between each cup. Stir entire mixture carefully to make sure all of the cereal is covered and all of the marshmallow is incorporated. Pour mixture into the pan. Spray PAM on your hand or rub a small amount of butter onto your hand. Pat the mixture down smoothly into the pan so that it is spread out and smooth. The mixture will be hot so be careful!!! Let the mixture cool for at least and hour before serving.
